Swap-bot envelopes

Being flaked on is never nice on swap-bot. But, being angeled after that is all the more fun! Marieke sent me the above in an envelope. She was my angel in the big fat envelope December swap in our group.

Je swap niet krijgen is nooit leuk op swap-bot. Maar om daarna van iemand anders als troost een vervangende envelop te krijgen is des te leuker! Marieke stuurde me dit bovenstaande voor de December big fat envelope. Wat een engel!

Debbie was sent me all the above and below for a private swap. You should know I love butterflies and hippos. The pink ones are littles candles. Adorable!

Debbie was een tikkie teleurgesteld over wat zij in haar envelop had gekregen van haar partner. Ze wilde graag een profiel passende swap ontvangen, dus prive deden we de big fat envelope nog eens dunnetjes over. Moet je zien wat een pracht en praal ze me stuurde! En weet dan dat ik vlinders en nijlpaarden hoog in het vaandel heb staan. Zie je die schattige roze nijlpaardenkaarsjes?

This brooche was in it as well. Looks like she made this red hippo with Fimo clay or so. Cuteness overload!

Deze broche zat er ook in. Ik denk dat ze dat nijlpaardje van fimo maakte. Fimo=friemel als je het mij vraagt. Prachtig gedaan.

My absolute favorite from the envelope is this pretty girl with a flower on her behind. I immediately attached her to my purse so she goes everywhere with me.

Klapper van de week! Deze hangt inmiddels vrolijk aan mijn tas te bungelen. Ze heeft zelfs een bloemetje op haar dike bips. Dank je wel Debbie. Top-swapster!

Granny Buttons

Today I will show you another treasure that was in the box I got from my grandmother. First of all this owl tin. A beauty on it's own!

Vandaag laat ik je een andere schat zien die in de doos zat die ik van mijn oma kreeg. Allereerst dit uilenblik. Een plaatje an sich!

And here's what's in the box. Buttons, BUTtons, BUTTONS! Hundreds of them. Probably saved up for decades.

En hier zie je wat er in het blik zit. Knopen, KNOpen, KNOPEN! Honderden. Waarschijnlijk decennia lang gespaard.

You can see a 1 cent coin there from 1948 I found in it. A Spanish Peseta and...is that a bullet? Along with keys and a dog batch showing the dog had it's rabies shot. I wonder of this belonged to Astrid. A Shepard dog my grandparents had when I was a small kid. I even called my grandparents Opa en Oma Astrid.

Je ziet hier een cent uit 1948, gevonden in het blik. Een Spaanse Peseta en..is dat een kogel? Daarnaast nog wat sleutels en een hondenpenning. Ik vraag me af of deze van Astrid is geweest. Een herdershond die mijn grootouders hadden toen ik klein was. Ik noemde ze zelfs Opa en Oma Astrid.

Ondertussen heb ik alle knopen gesorteerd.

Some of them remain single. But what beauties.
Sommigen zijn alleen. Maar wat zijn ze prachtig.

En dan moet ik denken aan dat dozijn glazen yoghurt potjes dat ik meenam van onze vakantie in frankrijk in 2009.

En hier een tutorial hoe je zo'n ijzerdraad aan zo'n potje vast maakt.
So maybe this year I will finally turn them into pretty garden lights. And if you do not have the jars, you can always follow this tutorial with wire only.
Dus misschien dat ik er dit jaar toch eindelijk eens een mooie tuinversiering van ga maken. En heb je nou geen glazen potjes, dan kun je nog altijd dit tutorial volgen met alleen ijzerdraad.

But first I would like to celebrate spring. So bring on the flowers and I will use the jars this simple way first. Liever zou ik eerst de lente vieren. Dus laat die bloemen maar komen, dan gebruik ik de potjes eerst op deze simpele manier.

Scavenger Hunt on Swap-bot

For the scavenger hunt on swap-bot I made these goodies for Susan. Two reversible baskets. The two in the picture are the same, but one is inside out. A phone charging station and a bug pin cushion. All free patterns found on the wonderful world wide web.

Voor de vossenjacht op swap-bot maakte ik deze dingetjes voor Susan. Twee omkeerbare mandjes. Die op de foto zijn identiek, maar 1 binnenstebuiten gekeerd. Een telefoonoplaadstation en een kever speldenkussen voor aan de pols. Allemaal van gratis patronen van het internet.

Knitted sweaters from the old days

So you are wondering after seeing the mosaic above....Kim, seriously, you better have a good story with this picture. Right? Well, I do actually. My grand parents moved into a flat where very talented and sweet people will take good care of them from now on. They are hitting 90 and deserve that. And need that, but not sure that is the best way to bring that to them.

My family had to go through a lot, I repeat a LOT of things because they could not take everything into their new home. And since I turn out to be the only one with love for crafting, they kept all kinds of amazing things for me that I will be showing off this week.

The mosaic above is a picture of 4 sweaters my grandmother knitted for me and/or my sisters when we were young. I ran into them, carefully kept in a notebook. I have vivid memories of the bottom right sweater. The other 3 I know we had in the house I am just not sure if all of them are worn by me or if some were worn by my sisters only. Going through these things just brought back that one lovely memory of a sweater I have loved so much. Looking at it now I am not sure why but ... never mind.

Bij het zien van bovenstaande foto vraag je je vast af of er misschien een goed verhaal bij hoort. Want echt modieus is het niet he.
Mijn grootouders zijn naar een verzorgingsflat verhuisd. En mijn familie heeft daarvoor een boel, een HELEboel werk verzet en dingen uit gezocht. Alle handwerk spulletjes zijn mijn kant opgekomen en daar ben ik blij mee! Er zitten wat schatten tussen die ik deze week zal laten zien. Maar eerst deze 4 truien. Ik vond de patronen netjes bewaard in een multomap en ik herinner me dat mijn oma ze voor mij en/of mijn zusjes gebreid heeft. Vooral van die rechtsonder ben ik zeker dat ik die heb gehad. En dat ik hem veel heb gedragen omdat ik er verliefd op was. Als je er nu naar kijkt vraag je je af waarom in hemelsnaam, maar dat doet er niet toe. Het bladeren door die multomap bracht een paar giechelende Oh ja momenten met zich mee.

Happy Valentines day

Today is Valentines day as I am sure you know. And I am sure that if you are Dutch like me you will probably say that it isn't a big thing. And that you likely skip Valentines day.

Vandaag is het Valentijnsdag. En wij Nederlanders vinden dat niks bijzonders, commercieel. En je slaat het waarschijnlijk over.

We, as in Boyfriend and me, always skip it as well. But him doing his DJ-thing in Austria right now and me being here home alone (by choice because he did invite me to come along) just doesn't feel quite right on a romantic day like this.

Wij, als in vriendjelief en ik, doen er ook nooit iets aan. Maar nu hij in Oostenrijk aan het DJ-en is en ik hier alleen thuis ben achtergebleven (eigen keuze hoor, hij vroeg me mee) voelt het toch alsof dat niet klopt op deze romantische dag.

So I made him this card last week and arranged that the sound engineer that goes with him makes sure he gets this today. Anonymously. Squeezed under his hotel room door in a pink envelope. But he will surely know it's mine. A Celtic heart knot drawn and 2 buttons sewn in that. Who else could that be but me, right?

Dus ik maakte vorige week deze kaart voor hem en regelde dat de geluidstechnicus die met hem mee is zorgt dat deze kaart bij hem komt vandaag. Anoniem. Onder zijn hotelkamerdeur door in een roze envelop. Maar hij zal zeker eten dat de kaart van mij komt. Een Keltische hartenknoop getekend en 2 knopen erin genaaid. Wie anders dan ik kan dat gedaan hebben?

Roll it up!

A roll up grocery bag I made for Anicka. She made me something as well,but I can not show you yet as that is part of a bigger project I am working on for baby Maud.

Een oprol boodschappentasje die ik voor Anicka maakte. Zij maakte ook iets voor mij, maar dat kan ik nog niet laten zien. Dat is onderdeel van een groter project voor baby Maud.

Zentangle A,B

Made this for the Alphabet Zentangle swap A, B. I used Afterglo as I really wanted to try it. Fun! And also I added Arrowheads and 1 AHH pattern.

Oh 'B' was fun! Bales, Betweed and Blooming-Butter are in this zentangle. So cute and fun results.

Little princess Ashley and the dress

My pretty pretty niece Ashley dresses up all day every day. But when she refused to take her princess dress off while going to the forest, her dress got ruined. There were quite a few holes in the dress. So, aunt Kim took it home and bought some pink silky fabric and tulle. But when I got home I saw my pink fabric was different from the dress. A little darker. And Ashley has a VERY specific taste in what is pretty and what is not. So I asked a 3yo permission to redo her dress with a slightly darker fabric. She gave her OK (phew...) as long as I would also put more tulle on the dress. Yes ma'am. And here's the result. One happy princess.

Mijn knappe nichtje Ashley verkleed zich iedere dag en de hele dag. Maar toen ze onlangs weigerde haar prinsessenjurk uit te doen voor een boswandeling, ontstond er nogal wat schade aan haar outfit natuurlijk. Dus tante Kim nam de jurk mee naar huis en kocht wat zijde en tulle. Maar thuisgekomen zag ik dat mijn roze stof net donkerder was dan de jurk. En al is ze pas 3, Ashley weet heel goed wat ze mooi vindt en wat niet. Dus vroeg ik deze 3 jarige dame toestemming om haar jurk te maken met een donkerdere stof. Dat vond ze goed (poeh...) maar dan moest er wel ook veel tulle op. Ja mevrouw. En zie hier het resultaat. Een gelukkig prinsesje.

Laid Back

Yesterday was a busy day, full of new starts. First I visited an iridologist. Since the gynecologist could not find a reason why I am not pregnant yet 2 years ago and 'letting go' last year did not do the trick, I decided to follow my gut feeling and find an alternative. It is funny how much he can see by looking into your eye with a flash light and not knowing the reason you are visiting him. Long story short: He saw what might be the reason and now I am taking homeopathic medicine to recover the balance in my body.

Gisteren was een drukke dag vol nieuwe beginnen. Eerst ging ik naar een iriscopist. Omdat de gynaecoloog geen reden kon vinden twee jaar gelden dat ik nog niet zwanger was en het 'loslaten' vorig jaar ook niet heeft geholpen besloot ik mijn onderbuikgevoel te volgen en een alternatieve oplossing te zoeken. Het is grappig hoeveel iemand kan zien door met een zaklampje in je ogen te schijnen en zonder te weten wat de reden van mijn bezoek is. Lang verhaal kort: hij zag wat waarschijnlijk de reden is en nu heb ik homeopatische middelen om de balans in mijn lichaam te herstellen.

After that we went to IKEA. Since our house has a new ceiling and new walls in the living room after a water pipe in the bathroom upstairs started leaking, we found it was time to change our interior. Starting with a new couch. Likely it will not be an IKEA couch. But, we made a start in that new phase. And the visit brought me the above song. We heard it there and thanks to Shazam we found the title and artist.

Daarna gingen we naar IKEA. Omdat we nieuwe muren en een nieuw plafond hebben nadat een waterleiding in de badkamer boven was gaan lekken, vonden we het de ideale tijd om onze inrichting om te gooien. Te beginnen met een andere bank. Waarschijnlijk wordt het geen IKEA bank, maar we hebben een begin gemaakt naar een nieuwe fase. En dat bezoekje heeft wel bovenstaand liedje opgeleverd. We hoorden het in de IKEA and met dank aan Shazam vonden we de titel en artiest.

In the evening I attended a workshop in writing a business plan. I want to get the picture clear if I can quit my day job and work full time in my spiritual practice and still make a decent living. Not sure of that yet, but it was very inspiring! And I will start planning to first write that book I have in my head since May now.

's Avonds nam ik deel aan een workshop ondernemingsplan schrijven. Ik wil graag een plaatje zien of het haalbaar is mijn baan op te zeggen en full time mijn eigen praktijk Spiritueel Bewust te runnen. Ik ben daar nu nog niet zeker van, maar het was heel inspirerend! En ik ga nu schrijfdagen inplannen om dat boek dat al sinds mei in mijn hoofd zit op papier te krijgen.

So, laid back.Got to keep that in mind with all these changes.
Dus, rustig aan. Dat moet ik in gedachten houden met al deze veranderingen.
