Cath Kidston is a UK based shop I found on the web the other day. I especially fell in love with their dresses. But they also have categories like bags, kids, haberdashery, fabric and home. Most of it has a little too much English flavor for me (read: roses), but there are some serious treasures in there. I want, no need this one.


Cath Kidston is een webwinkel uit de UK die ik onlangs op internet vond. Ik werd vooral verliefd op hun jurkjes. Ze hebben ook tassen, kids, naaigerei, stof en home. Het meeste is iets TE Engels voor mijn stijl (lees: roosjes), maar er zitten echt schatten tussen. Zo wil ik absoluut bovenstaande broche hebben.

Sew Spoiled Sew Along Cabrio Tote

These are the fabrics I will be using for the Cabrio Tote sew along. The flowers is the main fabric, the bright blue for the top of the bag and the handles. The light blue is the liner.

Deze stoffen heb ik uitgekozen uit mijn voorraad voor de Cabrio Tote sew along. De bloemen zijn voor de buitenkant, het heldere blauw voor de bovenkant en handvaten. Het lichtblauw is voor de binnenkant.

Dutchswappers meet again

January 22 we met for the second time. About 20 crafty girls from the Dutchswappers group on swap-bot. We already seem to have a tradition. We all bring 3 handmade goodies wrapped in gift wrapping. And then we play a game where you do not know what gifts you get to keep. I won all the above beautiful things.

A green felt phone cozy by Joyce (annitas), a brooch and necklace of felt by Kyra (Kyroushka) and a bag and handmade lip balm by Dieuwertje.

Op 22 januari ontmoetten we elkaar voor de tweede keer. Ongeveer 20 meiden van de Dutchswappers groep waren er. En we hebben al een traditie hoor. We nemen allemaal 3 ingepakte kadootjes mee en spelen dan het spel van LittleZ. Hilariteit ten top en je weet nooit of je het kado dat op dat moment voor je neus ligt ook mee naar huis mag nemen. Maar mijn buit was fantastisch.

Een groen vilten telefoonhoesje van Joyce, een broche en ketting van Kyra en een tas en zelfgemaakte natuurlijke lipbalsem van Dieuwertje. Ik kijk al uit naar een volgende datum!

Oh and we did a workshop wool felting. See here how much concentration that needs. Me and a needle. Deadly combination.

En we deden nog een workshop naaldvilten. Zie hier hoeveel concentratie daar voor nodig is. Ik en een naald: dodelijke combi.

Mandala

I made this one with colored pencil and the border is golden paint. It represents your inner light that always shines and will bloom during your life. It glows inside and outside you.
I gave it to Joyce for the calender swap. She will be looking at it all the month of October.

Deze mandala heb ik met kleurpotlood gemaakt en de rand met goudverf. Hij staat voor je innerlijke licht/vuur dat altijd brandt en tijdens je leven bloeit. Het schijnt van binnen en straalt uit naar buiten. Ik gaf hem aan Joyce voor de kalender swap. Ze zal er de hele maand Oktober naar kijken.

Swap-bot meeting Dutchswappers

Today the Dutch swappers are meeting again. Not in my house this time though. We are all meeting at Mariekes house.
A swap was organized where you would hand it to your partner live that day. Exiting! But, my partner Yvonne can't make it, so I sent it to her by post. I made her a small memory board in brocante (shabby chic) style and with green, one of the colors in her house.

Vandaag ontmoeten de Dutch swappers elkaar weer. Niet bij mij thuis deze keer, maar bij Marieke.
Een swap die georganiseerd was hield in dat je je spulletjes live aan elkaar moet overhandigen. Spannend! Maar mijn partner Yvonne kon helaas toch niet komen, dus ik heb haar kado per post gestuurd. Ik maakte voor haar een klein memobord in brocante stijl en met groen, een van de kleuren in haar huis.

I first saw this picture at the house of my friend B. I was impressed by it. She told me that she spoke to the photographer Shlomi Nissim and that this is a one shot photo. Everything you see is real. That makes this photo even more impressive.

Ik zag deze foto voor het eerst aan de muur bij vriendin B. I was heel erg onder de indruk. Ze vertelde me dat ze met de fotograaf had gesproken. Shlomi Nissim en dat deze foto in een shot is genomen. Alles wat je ziet is echt. Dat maakt de foto nog indrukwekkender.

Mixed-media artist book GIVEAWAY!

I am giving away a brand new copy of this FANTASTIC book by Carla Sonheim. Why? Well, just because I can! Why? Well, sit back and read.

Ik geef een gloedje nieuw exemplaar weg van dit geweldige boek van Carla Sonheim. Waarom? Gewoon, omdat het kan. Waarom? Ga maar eens goed zitten voor dit verhaal.

One day I ordered this book at the Book depository. A great website where I order all my English books. Sewing books, art books, novels. They are not expensive and have no (yes, NO) shipping costs. I ordered 2 different books at once. The bag making bible and this Drawing Lab book. My bible arrived, but the Drawing Lab did not. I waited another week, but still nothing. So, I wrote the Book Depository an e-mail and asked if perhaps they forgot to ship it. They checked their file but said it went out the same day as the Bag making bible did. They would ship me a new copy.

Op een dag bestelde ik dit book bij de Book Depository. Een geweldige website waar ik altijd mijn Engelstalige boeken bestel. Naaiboeken, tekenboeken, leesboeken. Ze zijn niet duur en rekenen geen (ja, geen) verzendkosten. Ik bestelde 2 verschillende boeken. The bag making bible en dit Drawing Lab boek. Mijn bijbel kwam al snel, maar een week daarna had ik nog steeds geen Drawing Lab binnen. Dus ik schreef een mail naar de Book Depository om te vragen of ze misschien vergeten waren het te versturen. Ze keken het na maar zeiden dat ze het tegelijk met de bijbel hadden opgestuurd. Ze zouden het nogmaals versturen.

Two days later I receive the book. And the next day, again. Woops. I wrote them that I now had both copies and if they wished me to return one to sender. That was in October and I haven't heard since then. So, now that I have reached over 150 loyal followers thanks to you, I decided to give my second copy away to one of you! How bout that. Showing my dress from the office

Hi, it's me, from the office :) Just a little note and snap shot saying and showing how much I love my new vintage dress. I got it for 5 euro and did just a little rework on it. Then Mia got me the belt that goes with it perfectly. Walking around proud today. Or should I say..sitting around proud.

In case you wonder where my head is, I was playing around with the timer on my phone and since the phone stand has a steady spot, my head does not fit on the picture. Not so sure that is a bad thing though.


Hi, ik ben het vanaf kantoor :) Even een kort berichtje en een fotootje om te laten zien en weten hoe verliefd ik ben op mijn nieuwe vintage jurk. Ik kocht hem voor 5 euro en heb hem alleen wat ingenomen en de mouwen mooier afgewerkt. Toen kwam Mia met de perfecte riem aanzetten en was de outfit compleet. Ik loop er vandaag trots in rond. Of moet ik zeggen: ik zit er vandaag trots in rond.

Voor het geval je je afvraagt waar mijn hoofd is, ik zat te spelen met de timer op de telefoon. En de standaard heeft een vaste plek, dus mijn hoofd past niet op de foto. Ik ben niet zeker dat dat een minpunt is.

Soulcollage®

Last Sunday I joined a workshop Soulcollage® given by Lucy from Life Creations. In one word: Wow!
In more words I described the workshop going from fun and cozy to beautiful and transforming.

Afgelopen zondag nam ik deel aan een workshop Soulcollage® bij Lucy van Life Creations. In 1 woord geweldig. In meer woorden beschrefe ik het als van leuk en gezellig naar mooi en transformerend.

From the mandala I am used to clarify what a drawing means by explaining color and shapes and the place of those in a drawing. Little did I know that that is not the way you translate a Soulcollage® card.

I made this one and then we had to 'become' the card and start saying: "I am the one who..." What a fantastic way to literally feel what you have made and find out why you made the collage the way you did.

Vanuit de mandala ben ik gewend tekeningen te verklaren aan de hand van kleur, vorm en plaats in de tekening. Bij deze methode word je de kaart door ernaar te kijken, te voelen en te zeggen: "Ik ben degene die...".

It made me cry, because I felt so much power, freedom and love. And it was very much worth it. I loved this workshop. I am even thinking about becoming a facilitator. It helped me so beautifully, I would love to share this method with others.

Het heeft me aan het huilen gebracht, zoveel kracht, vrijheid en liefde voelde ik. En het was het waard. Ik vond het een geweldige workshop. Ik denk er zelfs over om facilitator te worden. Het heeft me zo mooi inzicht gegeven, ik zou het geweldig vinden dit met anderen te mogen delen.

Maud, almost 2 weeks old.

This is Maud, my brand new niece at almost 2 weeks old. I wanted to take some pictures of her last weekend, but she slept the whole day through besides eating. Hard to imagine that my sister was actually due in 1 week from now so this little person could have been still in her belly. Life is a miracle.

Dit is Maud, mijn kersverse nichtje hier bijna 2 weken oud. Ik wilde wat foto's van haar maken afgelopen weekend, maar ze heeft bijna alleen maar geslapen. Het is moeilijk voor te stellen dat mijn zusje eigenlijk volgende week pas uitgerekend was en dat deze meid dus nog in haar buik had kunnen zitten. Het leven is een wonder.

Life is like a box of ...

...fabric.

Noeks had an auction on her website. She runs a great Dutch fabric shop, so the bidding was on a box of fabric. She does this because she is going to run up the Alpe d'Huez to get awareness for cancer and to raise money for the Dutch Cancer fund.

At the time this auction started, there was another big national fund raising for a different cause. Serious Request is every year, but this year I decided not to give them any money, but give it to Anouk, who wants to run up that huge mountain in France. And I won the auction! A box full of fabrics and fabric scraps.

Noeks had een veiling op haar blog. Lees hier alle details. En in plaats van mijn geld aan Serious Request te doneren, besloot ik het aan Anouks veiling te geven. En ik won de veiling. Ze gaat nog meer acties doen voor ze in juni de Alpe d'Huez op gaat rennen.

Deze videoclip kreeg ik van Kyra in een inspiratie e-mail swap op swap-bot. Geweldig! Het liedje en de papierkunst is simpel en prachtig.

Gifts for Jennifer

One of the things I was able to take off my 2010 'to-do-list' last minute was these gifts for Jennifer. Back in May she sent me a big surprise which tickled me pink and I wanted to do the same for her.

She is a painter, so I made her a brush role by a pattern from this book which was a lot of fun. And I made a grocery bag you can roll up to fit any purse for which I used this tutorial. The fabrics are vintage and I think they look great together. Orange as that is our national color.
Last but not least I had this book about painting flowers which I hoped she would appreciate. And it turns out she does. Oh, not to forget that I included a few cards with my mandala drawings on them. That is what this whole thing got started.

Een van de dingen die ik op het laatste nippertje nog van mijn to-do lijst kom halen was het maken van deze cadeautjes voor Jennifer. In mei stuurde ze mij een grote verrassing en ik wilde voor haar hetzelfde doen.

Ze schildert met waterverf, dus ik maakte voor haar een kwastenrol uit dit boek. Heel leuk om te maken! Verder is het boek niet echt een aanrader hoor. Ik maakte ook een oproltasje van vintage stoffen met dit tutorial. En ten slotte had ik nog een boek over het schilderen van bloemen waarvan ik hoopte dat ze er veel plezier van zou hebben. En ze zegt er erg blij mee te zijn gelukkig. Oh en niet te vergeten, ik deed er nog een paar kaarten met mijn mandala tekeningen bij. Daar was het tenslotte allemaal om begonnen.

When I saw this picture on the Pinterest board of Little Z I was intregued by the screen on that iMac. So I searched around to see if I could find it anywhere. Turns out it is a screensaver and you can download it here. Guess I am in love with my new screensaver! Excuse me while I wait 10 minutes so it can jump on.

Toen ik deze foto zag op het Pinterest bord van LittleZ trok het scherm van de iMac mijn aandacht. Dus ik keek een beetje rond op het web. Nu blijkt dat het een screensaver is due je hier kunt downloaden. Ik geloof dat ik verliefd ven op mijn nieuwe screensaver! Dus excuseer me, dan ga ik nu 10 minuten wachten zodat hij aan springt.

Mitsy is back with her Flickr Favorites! Come join in 2011. It is a good way to reflect. Especially with this weeks theme as it is: What do you want 2011 to be for you.

I would love to be able to enjoy life more. I often feel I take the maximum out of life, but by doing a lot and seeing a lot, I sometimes overlook the bigger picture. To enjoy.

I would like to be able to look at life like a child can. Full of wonder. The earth is a miracle you know. The other day I saw a group of swans flying over against a bright blue sky and I could not stop smiling. Being in the moment. I think that is what gives the most joy.

And I would love to relax more. And to be able to do that, I have to get all of the ideas that are wondering around in my head out. Maybe I should just try to put them all on paper and see which ones I truly want to start on. Making my own dreams come true.

To feel in harmony you have to be in harmony I guess. And I can feel I am getting there. I am at a point in my life where I feel very comfortable with myself and more self-confidence than ever before. I love it. I love being me. Now let's say 2011 will be the year I will enjoy that to the most.

Winterefteling

We spent New Years day with family in Roosendaal. On our way home I suggested Juri to go to the funpark Efteling. But he had a better idea. Let's go tomorrow he said.

Oud en Nieuw vierden we in Roosendaal en we bleven bij mijn zus slapen. Op weg naar huis zag ik het bord Efteling en opperde het plan daar naartoe te gaan. Juri had een beter idee. We zouden de volgende dag gaan.

Next day we woke up with gorgeous weather! Cold, but no rain or snow and even some sunshine!
De volgende dag werden we wakker en het was prachtig weer! Droog en zonnig. Dat hadden we lang niet gehad.
We were lucky because a lot in the park is closed when it freezes. The website mentioned most attractions to be closed, but they turned out to be open! That way we got to ride one of the latest roller-coaster being Joris and the dragon. Boy did we enjoy that!

En we hadden dubbel geluk, want normaal is er veel gesloten in het park als het vriest. Op de website stonden de meeste attracties ook als gesloten aangegeven, maar die bleken toch open! En zo konden we Joris en de draak beleven. Wat een geweldige achtbaan!

The Flying Dutchman was closed. But hey...who wants to get wet when it is this cold anyway.

De Vliegende Hollander was gesloten. Maar wie wil er nou nat worden als het zo koud is...

This Hippo is actually a bin. You throw paper in his mouth and he sings a song. And since I collect hippo's, I HAD to have this picture taken.

Dit is een variant op Holle Bolle Gijs in een speeltuin in de Efteling. En omdat ik nijlpaarden spaar, MOEST ik deze foto wel laten nemen.


And I always want to see Droomvlucht (Dream flight). It is purely magic. I have more pictures on Flickr if you wish to see. We started our year the best way I can imagine. Going out together and laugh a lot.

En ik wil altijd Droomvlucht zien. Zo magisch! Ik heb meer foto's op Flickr gezet als je die wil zien. Wij zijn het nieuwe jaar perfect begonnen. Samen erop uit en veel lachen.
