This month Artmind came up with the theme: take your favorite destination and build your mosaic around it.

Done. But, I have to admit, with my own pictures. Oh how I love New York. I have been there 4 or 5 times now. As the head office of the company I work for is situated on Park Avenue New York, I get to go every 2 or 3 years. (Note to self, it has been 3 years already..time to go again!) And I love it! Boyfriend always comes with me. I usually spend 2 days at the office and take the rest of the week off so we can go around. The company has an appartment up on 82nd street we can use for free. I know...incentive! And yes, I do realize how lucky I am.

Moving on. New York. The city that never sleeps. Last time we went, I did not yet have my DSLR camera, but we managed to take some great pictures, other than of the statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building. Which are great, but after 2 times you've been there. done that.

New York must be on your must see list. This is the view of Manhattan from the plane. Then when you get out of the plane you step straight into a movie scene. That is what it feels like. You only know the yellow cabs from the movies you've seen and suddenly you are in one! Just like Carry from SATC. And then you cross the bridge and see Manhattan. You wonder if it's real until you get out of the cab.

It is a city that hurts your neck as you are looking up all the time. A city that either costs you tons of energy or gives you tons of it. A city you absolutely love or absolutely hate. A city that has extreme cold winters and extreme hot summers. It's a city of extremes. And I love extremes. I heart NYC.

  4. Isn't it amazing that I'm from the States and have never been to NYC? I've been to Amsterdam twice now, though, and o so many places... but NY is still on my must see. I was visiting some friends in D.C. last year, but had such a time constraint that we didn't make it to NY. tssk tssk, your photos make me want to go even more!

  6. NY seems overwhelming. Whenever I see images in a movie I imagine how easy one can get lost or charmed.
Your images are great, I especially love the one with the yellow public phone.
